Top 10 YouTube Intro Videos

These short video intros pack a powerful punch! But what makes a YouTube intro stand out from the rest? The video clip has to convey the overall tone and subject of your YouTube channel using colors, music, fonts, logos, and of course, the video itself. Thanks to online video editors, anyone can create a stunning intro video. Here are a few examples of some great ones!

10: Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell

Top 10 Youtube Intros - Kurzgesagt

This intro video clip is a perfect introduction to the world of YouTube intros. It perfectly demonstrates what the channel is about; taking complex scientific theories and ideas and turning them into fun educational videos everyone can understand. With over 5 million subscribers (and growing), they certainly have found a style that works!

9. Jenna Marbles

Not all YouTube intros have to make sense! Jenna Marbles’ channel is difficult to sum up. Her intro has evolved over the years but largely stayed the same. Is it a channel about underwear football? Nope! What is “sexual Wednesday”? An inside joke. And that squeaky toy sound in the beginning helps create iconic brand recognition. It shows her quirky personality and fans recognize it instantly.

8. Jon Sandman

Maybe you’ve already used an online video editor to create your intro, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t use a little refresher. Compare the older intro to Jon Sandman’s newest version. The tumbling text is more visually grabbing, not to mention the little details like reflective surfaces, a glimmer flash, and a new tagline! And with a clever use of music, you’ll never forget his name. Perfect branding!

7. Collegehumor

Bright colors are a great way to grab attention in a short amount of time. CollegeHumor’s short intro, with fast text swipes, music, and sound effects works perfectly with the iconic yellow background. Viewers familiar with the channel know they’re in for something funny. New fans’ attentions will perk right up the moment the video starts!

6. Thecampingrusher

Epic music, instantly recognizable art, and a perfect name. This is a great example of a powerfully effective intro video. Anyone falling down a YouTube rabbit hole of videos would instantly recognize the Minecraft imagery, or at the very least, be able to tell this was a gaming channel.

5. Busy works beats

Sometimes less is more. An eye-catching logo appears followed by the name of the channel, finished by the all-important web address. Simple, elegant, and perfect for a wide variety of uses. You can easily create an intro like this using a video maker online, no need to buy expensive software you’ll only use a handful of times!

4. Food Network – Pioneer Woman

Look no further than the Pioneer Woman for proof that intro templates work. She’s one of the biggest names in her industry AND featured on a national channel, but she still relies on a recognizable intro to kick off her videos.

3. Ted

From a design perspective, this intro is near perfection. It begins with an idea, a single flicker which then ripples out and explodes into the universe. The TED logo snaps into place, containing the universe and implying all you need to know can be found within. Pretty profound, huh? Many of the individual TED channels have their own unique intro as well!

2. JHZER

Bright and eye catching, JHZER’s electric intro makes the viewer feel like they’re in for a fast, adrenaline packed time. Targeting a specific kind of subscriber is the best way to build a loyal audience and this intro definitely appeals to the younger crowd.

1. Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan has been a lot of things over the years. Right now, he hosts one of the most popular podcasts in the world, The Joe Rogan Experience. Not only does he record the audio, but he posts his interviews on YouTube. What ties them together? The simple use of a logo. Short and simple, this type of branding gets the message across in seconds.

As you can see, there are as many different ways to create intro videos as there are YouTube channels. Using a blend of your personality or brand image with viewer expectations, you’re well on your way to being a top class YouTube intro creator. Use these examples as inspiration and find the right intro for you!

it me

IntroCave is a one-person-show operated by Will Hankinson, but it's not 100% accurate to say every word is written by me. Some articles were live on the site when I took over. I hire writers from time to time to work on specific articles. People keep asking me to do guest posts, but I haven't actually seen any relevant submissions yet. "Intro Maker staff" might make a better by-line, but currently that's just me. I've been building digital things for 10+ years now, and some of my favorite projects are posted over at my personal website if you want to take a look!
