I still haven't fully processed that it's 2022 and it's about to be February.
Optional Images + Subtitles + 10 New Templates for February
Hopefully my brain is a little less mushy for this update cycle—looking back at the January newsletter and blog, I think I got the most of the years wrong (say it with me: it's 2022 now).
For this batch of templates, I'm trying out a couple of new customization types. While working on the video template for Stylish Shapes Slideshow, I had two thoughts:
- This would look good as a title sequence even without photos.
- I wish I could make the subtitle boxes disappear when you don't put in any text.
The first was straightforward enough (copy + paste + delete some photos). The second took a bit of code, but now I've got a system in place if I need to make optional subtitles truly optional (like, you wouldn't even know they were there!).
Making the title version of the slideshow got me thinking about another template I've been working on. You'll see those variations below as Cyberpunk Logo v1 through Cyberpunk Logo v4 (as well as text-only versions). I had always intended for users to upload their own background photo (i.e. a screenshot from a game), which would normally mean using my kinda-boring-default-placeholder:
It occurred to me that I could actually tailor each video to a specific stock asset and make them look a lot nicer and more varied out of the box. You can still swap in your own graphic if you like, but now those templates are also useful if you just want to sub in your logo and text.
